Museum Night: A Book in the Night

Registration for the tours has ended.

On Museum Night you can take part in guided tours, visit a small exhibition or play video games. Visitors will also be able to see the rag paper – used until the middle of the 19th century – and a book that is 15 cm thick.

Tours

Walking tours on the theme of media and history, starting at the small building of RaRa (Narva mnt. 11). Guide: Hannes Rumm.   

We ask you to register for the tour; participants will receive headphones for the tour and the number of participants is limited.  

A media-themed walk in Tallinn city centre focuses on messages in urban space and the role of media houses in history and today. We will find out how and for what purpose Finnish-language broadcasts worked in the Soviet era, what functions these media houses perform today, and how the how the mass media steers our attention.

Experienced journalist and communications expert Hannes Rumm will talk about this and more. Rumm has led the European Commission Representation in Estonia and advised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on strategic communication. Among other things, he is a long-standing columnist for Maaleht, Estonia’s largest weekly newspaper, and a participant in the Vikerraadio memory game show “Mnemoturniir”.

The tour in Estonian is supported by the European Commission’s Team Europe network.

The tours in Russian and English are part of the MeediaRadar project, co-funded by the Swiss government to reduce economic and social disparities in the European Union.

17.00–17.45 Guided tour in Estonian of the small building of the National Library of Estonia (Narva mnt 11): historical and architectural view. Guide: Karen Jagodin, Director of the Museum of Architecture. This tour starts from the small building of RaRa (Narva mnt 11).

This tour covers three floors, including rooms that are hidden from the average visitor. The tour focuses on the history of the building and the neighbourhood, and how the former industrial building was first transformed into a bank, then turned into the small building of RaRa.  

18.15–19.45 Guided tour in Estonian ‘The National Library of Estonia and its buildings through time’. Guide: Kalju Tammaru, the Collection Management Officer at the Repository Library. This tour starts from Toompea, from the building of the Estonian Knighthood, Kiriku plats 1. 

This is a tour of the different buildings of the National Library. We will start in Toompea, where the Knight’s Household Building was used by the library throughout the Soviet period until the new building was completed in 1993.

17.00–19.00 A small exhibition of rarities ‘Breath of time on paper’  

18.00–23.00 Interactive video game museum LVLup! (located at the small building of RaRa, Narva mnt 11)

Interactive Video Game Museum LVLup! is a place to spend time and expand your horizons. The museum is where new meets old and vice versa – with consoles and games from the 1980s to the present day. Playing in the museum gives you an in-depth insight into the evolution of the video game industry and the games that have defined different generations. 

• Admission is free!
• The event will be captured by a photographer and the pictures will be used on RaRa channels. If you don’t want this, please let the photographer know.

Программа RaRa в Ночь музеев

В Ночь музеев Национальная библиотека Эстонии (RaRa) приглашает гостей на разные мероприятия! Можно будет принять участие в экскурсиях, посетить выставку или поиграть в видеоигры. Посетители также смогут посмотреть как выглядит бумага из переработанного тряпья, которую использовали до середины 19 века, и книгу толщиной в 15 сантиметров. 

Регистрация на экскурсии окончена.

Экскурсии-прогулки на тему медиа и истории, туры начнутся из малого дома RaRa (Narva mnt 11). Ведущий: Ханнес Румм.

Обязательна регистрация, на время экскурсии участники получат наушники и количество мест ограничено.

Прогулка по центру Таллинна посвящена информационному пространству города и роли медиакорпораций как в прошлом, так и в настоящем. Участники экскурсий узнают, как и с какой целью работали финноязычные передачи в советское время, какие функции выполняют медиакомпании сегодня и как СМИ привлекают наше внимание.

Ханнес Румм — уважаемый журналист и эксперт по связям с общественностью, он руководил представительством Европейской комиссии в Эстонии, а также консультировал Министерство иностранных дел по вопросам стратегической коммуникации. Помимо прочего, Румм — давний колумнист крупнейшей эстонской еженедельной газеты Maaleht и участник передачи “Mnemoturniir” на Vikerraadio.

Тур на эстонском языке стал возможен благодаря сети Европейской комиссии Team Europe. Экскурсии на русском и английском языках проходят в рамках проекта MeediaRadar, который финансируется при участии правительства Швейцарии с целью сокращения экономического и социального неравенства в странах Европейского союза.

17.00–17.45 Экскурсия на эстонском языке во временном здании Национальной библиотеки Эстонии (Narva mnt 11), которую проведет директор Музея архитектуры Карен Ягодин.

Прогулка пройдет по трем этажам, в том числе по помещениям, которые скрыты от обычного посетителя. Экскурсия посвящена истории здания и района – как бывшее промышленное здание было преобразовано в банк, а затем превратилось в малый дом RaRa.

18.15–19.45 Экскурсия на эстонском языке “Национальная библиотека Эстонии и ее здания сквозь времена” (начало с Тоомпеа, от здания Эстляндского рыцарства, Kiriku plats 1).

Пройдемся по маршруту от Тоомпеа до Тынисмяги, а хранитель Эстонской сберегательной библиотеки Калью Таммару расскажет об истории RaRa и домах, где она находилась.

17.00 — 19.00 Открыта небольшая выставка старых книг

18.00—23.00 Открыт музей видеоигр LVLup!.
